Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 27, 2026

1. Introduction

Homeroomie ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our lesson plan generation service.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Password (stored securely using one-way hashing — we never store your password in plain text)

Lesson and Content Data

When you use our service, we collect:

  • Lesson plan inputs (grade level, subject, standards, themes)
  • Generated lesson plans, worksheets, and materials
  • Your saved and organized lesson content

Payment Information

Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number or full payment details on our servers. We receive only a confirmation of payment status and your Stripe customer ID to manage your subscription.

Usage Data

We use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics tool, to collect anonymized usage data such as pages visited and general device information. Umami does not use cookies, does not collect personal information, and does not track users across sites.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Generate personalized lesson plans and educational content
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions
  • Send important account and service-related notifications
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve user experience and content quality
  • Protect against fraud and unauthorized access

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited data with the following third-party services that help us operate the platform:

  • Stripe — for payment processing
  • Google (Gemini AI) — to generate lesson plans and educational content. The inputs you provide (such as grade level, subject, and themes) are sent to Google's AI services. No personally identifiable information is included in these requests.
  • Umami — for privacy-focused, anonymized usage analytics. Umami does not collect personal data or use tracking cookies.

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, safety, or property.

5. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), secure password hashing, and access controls on our infrastructure. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account and lesson data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal information and saved content within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes (such as resolving disputes or enforcing our terms).

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your account and data
  • Export your lesson plans and content
  • Opt out of non-essential communications

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@homeroomie.com.

8. Children's Privacy

Homeroomie is designed for use by educators, not by children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it. The lesson plans and materials generated are intended for teacher use in classrooms, and no student data is collected or processed by our Service.

9. Cookies and Tracking

We use essential cookies to maintain your authentication session and preferences. Our analytics tool (Umami) is cookie-free and does not track individual users. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or trackers.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes by posting a notice on our website. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
